Book Description

The Routledge Handbook of Cognitive Linguistics provides a comprehensive introduction and essential reference work to cognitive linguistics. Xu Wen is professor of linguistics and dean of College of International Studies at Southwest University, China; co-editor of Cognitive Linguistic Studies (John Benjamins), editor of Asian-Pacific Journal of Second and Foreign Language Education (Springer), and editorial board members of journals such as Language SciencesReview of Cognitive Linguistics, and Metaphor and the Social World. He has published a lot of papers in journals such as Brain and LanguageMetaphor and SymbolCognitive Linguistic Studies; and books such as The Cognitive Foundation of LanguageCognitive Linguistics: A Reader, The Pragmatics of Discourse Understanding, and A Cognitive-Pragmatic Study in Ironic Utterances

John R. Taylor is senior lecturer in Linguistics at the University of Otago, New Zealand. He is the author of Possessives in English (1996), Cognitive Grammar (2002), Linguistic Categorization (3rd edition 2003), The Mental Corpus (2012), and The Oxford Handbook of the Word (2015), and the co-editor of The Bloomsbury Companion to Cognitive Linguistics (2014). He is a managing editor for the series Cognitive Linguistics Research (Mouton de Gruyter) and an associate editor of the journals Cognitive Linguistics and Cognitive Linguistic Studies.
