特刊主题:Mechanisms of Developmental Plasticity

摘要截止日期:2023年2月1日

特刊介绍

Throughout development, animals incur rapid changes in their body, brain, environment, and life experiences. Plasticity in different regions of the nervous system supports developmental changes in behavior across ontogeny, providing a rich substrate for continual adaptation to the environment.

For this special issue, we invite submissions which investigate mechanisms of developmental plasticity in animal models. We aim to include empirical and review papers across a range of species, behaviors, techniques, and highlighting various periods in the development of behavior. We are particularly interested in papers that emphasize typical developmental processes and interactions with the environment (e.g., learning, memory, sleep, sensorimotor development, immune and physiological function, etc.), but will also consider animal models of human disease function. We are interested in papers exploring the following biological mechanisms, including but not limited to:

  • epigenetic regulation,

  • synaptic plasticity,

  • spontaneous network activity,

  • hormone regulation,

  • structural plasticity,

  • functional plasticity.

Developmental Psychobiology is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research papers from the disciplines of psychology, biology, neuroscience, and medicine that contribute to an understanding of behavior development. Research that focuses on development in the embryo/fetus, neonate, juvenile, or adult animal and multidisciplinary research that relates behavioral development to anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, genetics, or evolution is appropriate. The journal represents a broad phylogenetic perspective on behavior development by publishing studies of invertebrates, fish, birds, humans, and other animals. The journal publishes experimental and descriptive studies whether carried out in the laboratory or field.
