The Department of Linguistics at the University of Chicago invites applications for a Research Associate position. The Research Associate will join a dynamic research group focusing on projects investigating potential mechanisms underpinning individual variability in speech and language processing using neurophysiological as well as eye-tracking techniques. The Research Associate’s primary responsibilities include setting up and performing experiments, collecting, maintaining and analyzing data, conducting literature reviews, assisting with preparing reports, manuscripts, and other documents, interacting with students and other laboratory staff in collaboration with the principal investigators. Other responsibilities may include the following non-laboratory duties: assisting in recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. There are no required teaching responsibilities for the position, but occasional teaching may be possible after the first year depending on departmental need and the needs of the research group.The expected start date is November 1, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter, with an initial term of appointment until August 31, 2025. Reappointment is possible following a successful review during the second year. This is a renewable, benefits-eligible position.01
